Purchasing that works at the counter
Deliveries arrive while you are serving customers. Stockroom lets you receive them on the POS device, count stock with whoever is on shift, and print the labels before the box is empty.
- Receive on Shopify POS
- Counting links for staff, no login
- Barcode labels on 10 label sizes
Receiving without leaving the register
Stockroom adds its own tiles to the POS smart grid, so you handle a delivery at the register where it arrives.
- Receive at the device location. To receive and Received tabs list what is on the way to this store. Take a delivery in full or in part without switching devices.
- Scan to reorder. Scan an empty shelf item straight onto a POS-authored draft PO, browse or search the catalog, and mark it ordered with a two-step confirm.
- Incoming on the product page. POS product pages show what is already on order, so nobody orders the same thing twice or promises a customer a date you cannot hit.
- Print labels as it lands. Print price and barcode labels from a receipt. You get one label per unit received, not per unit ordered.
- Pickup orders, picked at the till. A Pickup orders tile shows what is waiting at this location. Open one, scan every item, tap Ready for pickup, and Shopify tells the customer it is here.
- Any barcode scanner. Receiving on POS works with a hardware scanner as well as the camera. With lot tracking on, it asks for the batch number on the products you have marked. That is two taps, and the expiry goes on the lot page later.
Count with the staff you already have
A stocktake in Stockroom counts against on-hand, so open orders cannot affect the count.
- No POS Pro required. Counting runs in Stockroom, so it does not need a POS subscription tier. Any device with a browser can count.
- Counting links. Send a link to whoever is on shift. They count on their own phone with no Shopify login and no seat to pay for.
- Blind counts. Expected quantities never leave the server while counting. The API enforces this, so it is not just hidden in the UI.
- Scoped sessions. Count one vendor, one product type, one supplier, or the N items nobody has counted in longest. Cycle counts can run on a schedule.
- Nothing moves until you apply. Cancel a session and it writes nothing to Shopify. Applied counts are permanent and audited.
- Adjustments with reasons. Damage, shrinkage and corrections become numbered documents with a reason code, ready for your accountant.
One label app fewer
Barcode and price labels are built in, for the label stock most retailers already use.
- Fourteen media presets. Dymo 30334, 30336, 30332, 30252, 30330 and the 30299 jewelry barbell, Zebra and Rollo 2x1 and 1.25x1 rolls, and Avery 5160 and 5167 sheets.
- Print from anywhere. From a purchase order, from a single receipt, from a product page, or in bulk from the Products list. If a barcode falls off a shelf tag, reprint it in three clicks.
- Choose what prints. Title, variant, price and SKU are per-job checkboxes, and each label size tells you which fields it has room for.
Common questions
Do I need Shopify POS Pro?
No. Stockroom does its own counting and receiving, so the features here do not depend on a POS Pro subscription. You do need Shopify POS itself for the on-device tiles.
Can staff count without a Shopify account?
Yes. A counting link lets anyone count on their own phone without logging into Shopify and without taking up a staff seat. You review the counts before anything is applied.
Does a stocktake change my Shopify stock straight away?
Only when you apply it. Counting and reviewing change nothing, and cancelling a session writes nothing to Shopify. When you apply, the corrections are written with a check that the quantity has not moved underneath you.
Which barcode does the label print?
The variant's current barcode read from your catalog at print time, in its native symbology - EAN-13 or UPC-A. If a variant has no barcode, Stockroom can generate one for you, and otherwise falls back to a Code 128 of the SKU so the label still scans either way.
Can Stockroom create barcodes for products that have none?
Yes. Stockroom creates valid EAN-13 codes from the range GS1 reserves for in-store use, so they cannot collide with a real product code, and saves them back to Shopify. Do it for a single product, for everything in a print run, or for every product matching a filter. These are internal codes for your own shelves and POS. To list on Amazon or Google Shopping you still need barcodes issued to you by GS1.
