Built-in label printing
Print barcode and price labels from a PO, a receipt or any product, on the Dymo, Zebra, Rollo or Avery stock you already own.
Print labels as stock comes in
Standalone label apps charge $20 a month for this. Stockroom includes it.
- Print from anywhere. Print for a whole PO, a single receipt, one product from its page, or in bulk from the Products list. You do not need a PO.
- 14 media presets. Dymo rolls, Zebra and Rollo thermal rolls, and Avery laser sheets, sized and aligned to the die.
- Native barcodes. EAN-13 and UPC-A are rendered in their own symbology, with Code-128 as the fallback for everything else.
- Generate missing barcodes. Create a valid EAN-13 for products that have none, one at a time, for everything in a print run, or for every product matching a filter. The code is saved back to Shopify.
- Pick your fields. Title, variant, price, SKU, vendor, supplier SKU, cost, bin location and up to four of your own Shopify metafields. Choose per print job, and set which line each one prints on.
- Sale tags. Print the compare-at price crossed out beside the current price, only on items that are discounted.
- A date code for aged stock. An opt-in printed date on the label, so you can see which box came in first.
- Lot and expiry. With lot tracking on, print the batch number and the EXP date. Printing from a receipt uses that delivery's lot.
- Rotate, or go multi-column. Turn a Zebra, Rollo or Avery layout 90 degrees for a landscape label, and define custom sizes with several labels across, gaps included.
- Printer diagnostics. Settings > Labels checks your DYMO setup and spots the leftover DYMO Label v8 service that swallows jobs meant for DYMO Connect.
- Quantities from the receipt. Per-line quantities default to what you received, and the printed count is tracked.
- Included. Label printing is part of Stockroom, so there is no separate label app to subscribe to.
Common questions
Which printers work?
Dymo, Zebra, Rollo and Avery sheets, with 14 built-in formats plus custom sizes you define. Stockroom prints straight to Dymo Connect on the six Dymo stocks and to Zebra Browser Print on any stock, and everything else goes through your browser's print dialog. Print at 100% or Actual size: fit-to-page scaling walks a correct grid off the die, and it is the first thing to check if labels come out misaligned.
How many labels can I print at once?
Up to 500 in one run, which steers a big delivery towards printing per receipt instead. From the Products list the cap is 100 products, and over it nothing prints and the dialog says so rather than printing part of your selection.
Can Stockroom create a barcode for a product that has none?
Yes, an EAN-13 in the range reserved for use inside your own business, saved back to Shopify. It is not a licensed GTIN, so it works in your store and at your till but is not valid for Amazon, Google Shopping or a distributor.
Do you print A4 sheets?
Not yet. Sheet printing is letter-only, so Avery L7160 and the other A4 sheet stocks are not built. Roll printers are unaffected, and a custom size covers most roll stock.
Is this part of the free app?
Stockroom is free to install, with no trials and no credit card. Purchase orders and receiving are free, and they stay free - that's the core of the app, not a trial. As Stockroom grows into deeper inventory management, the advanced end of that will be paid, along with things like hands-on onboarding and priority support.
