Built on Shopify transfers
Stockroom creates and updates Shopify's native inventory transfers. Shopify holds the document and the stock movements, so the two stay in sync.
- Native transfer documents. Built on Shopify's InventoryTransfer, so each transfer is visible in your Shopify admin.
- Transfer suggestions. Stockroom pairs locations that are short of an item with locations that have extra.
- Mark in transit. Track shipments between locations from packed to received.
- Scan receiving. Receive in-transit shipments by barcode at the destination.
- Labels for re-shelving. Print labels straight from a transfer when stock arrives at its new location.
- One product timeline. Transfers join receipts, adjustments and counts in the same per-product history.
Common questions
Does Stockroom move the stock when I transfer it?
No, Shopify does. Transfers are Shopify's own transfer documents, so Shopify owns the document and every inventory movement, and Stockroom makes no inventory writes for a transfer. What Stockroom adds is the suggestions, scan receiving, the printed sheet and the labels.
What still has to be done in the Shopify admin?
Editing the items and quantities on a transfer, and partial shipments with their own tracking. Marking in transit covers one shipment for every unshipped unit. The detail page links straight out to Shopify for the rest.
Will it tell me what to move?
Suggest on a new transfer pairs a location that is short with one that has extra. It reads the reorder points and max levels you have set, so a location with no max level never shows extra to move, and nothing is set aside at order time. Matches come in at one unit each for you to adjust.
Do transfer tags show up in Shopify?
Yes. These are Shopify's own transfer tags, so the Shopify admin and Stockroom always show the same list. Up to 40 characters a tag and 20 tags a transfer.
Is this part of the free app?
Stockroom is free to install, with no trials and no credit card. Purchase orders and receiving are free, and they stay free - that's the core of the app, not a trial. As Stockroom grows into deeper inventory management, the advanced end of that will be paid, along with things like hands-on onboarding and priority support.
