Ask your assistant what to buy
Connect Claude or ChatGPT to your store and ask about stock, suppliers, costs, counts and reports in plain English, then have it draft the purchase order while you are still talking.
Your assistant, reading your live numbers
Stockroom runs a standard MCP server, so any assistant that speaks it can connect. You approve the connection inside your Shopify admin, and you can revoke it at any time.
- Claude and ChatGPT, from the same link. Copy the connection link from Settings and paste it into your assistant. Nothing to install and no API keys to manage.
- You approve it, and you can take it back. Connections are approved in the admin and revocable from the same place, one by one.
- Live data. Answers come from your current stock, suppliers, orders and counts, rather than a snapshot from when you connected.
- Every call is logged. Stockroom records which tool ran and whether it succeeded, so you can see what a connection has done.
The questions you would otherwise click through five screens for
Fourteen tools, covering purchasing, stock, the counting trail and every report on the Reports page.
- "What should I reorder from Acme this week?" Reorder suggestions, supplier records, lead times and minimums, in conversation.
- "Run my dead stock report for the Warehouse." Twenty-two of the twenty-three reports, scoped by vendor, product type or location, over any date window.
- "What did last month's count find?" Stocktakes with the variance lines first, and stock adjustments with reason labels and per-line deltas.
- "How much of PO-1042 is still outstanding?" Purchase orders with the outstanding quantity per line and every receipt against them.
- Totals that cover everything. Report totals cover the whole result even when the assistant was shown only some of the rows, and it is told when the two differ.
- A link straight back into the app. Results carry a deep link, so you can jump from the answer to the document.
It can draft a purchase order. It cannot place one.
Writing is limited to drafts. An assistant can build and revise an order for you, and committing stock to Shopify is a decision you make in the app.
- Draft a PO from a conversation. Name a supplier and some SKUs and it builds the draft. If anything is ambiguous it refuses rather than guessing.
- Revise a draft by SKU. Add, change or remove lines, notes, references and expected dates. Lines it does not name are left alone.
- Placed orders are off limits. Once a PO is ordered its quantities are promised to Shopify as incoming stock, so the assistant refuses to touch it. You revert it in the app first.
- All or nothing. Every SKU resolves before any row is written, so an edit cannot be half applied.
Forward the invoice instead of typing it in
Email a supplier invoice, packing slip or price list to your store's Stockroom address, or drop it on the receive screen. Stockroom reads the line items and waits for you.
- Packing slips fill the receive counts. Matched against the open PO by the number the document itself quotes, clamped to what is outstanding.
- Price lists become a cost review. Proposed costs land in a review screen, converted from foreign currencies where a rate exists.
- Nothing changes until you confirm. The extracted lines show on screen as a suggestion, and you confirm before any cost, count or price changes.
- Your own inbound address. Every store gets its own address to forward supplier email to.
Common questions
Do I need a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan?
You need an assistant that can connect to an MCP server, which is a feature of the paid tiers of both today. Stockroom does not charge for the connection itself. ChatGPT currently requires developer mode to add one.
Can the assistant change my stock levels?
No. The only things it can write are draft purchase orders, creating and editing them. It cannot place an order, receive a delivery, apply a count, adjust stock or change a price. Everything else is read-only.
What does it send to the AI company?
The stock, supplier, order or report data the tool returned to answer your question. The assistant you connected processes it under their terms. Stockroom logs which tool ran and whether it worked, and does not log the values that came back.
Is this instead of the app?
No. It is a second way into the same data, best for questions that would otherwise mean clicking through several screens. You still place orders, receive deliveries and count stock in the app.
What does it cost?
Stockroom AI is in Early Access and is included while it is there. Purchase orders and receiving are free and stay free - that is the core of the app, not a trial. As Stockroom grows into deeper inventory management, the advanced end of that will be paid, along with things like hands-on onboarding and priority support.
